votes for women “yea or nay”
Thanks to each and every one of you who supported our efforts and performances. In 2019, Michigan will be celebrating the 100th year since women gained the right to vote in this state. This is being celebrated at the CoBACH Center with a summer long display by the Brighton Area Historical Society. Brighton’s Own Livingston Players will be presenting “Yea or Nay” : the fight for the 19th Amendment. We have gathered material to present a debate as to whether or not women should get suffrage not only in Michigan but in the United States. This production will not only explore the role of women in the formation of this great country but also of how the role of women and family changed from the founding of our nation in the late 1770’s through the almost 80 year fight for women’s suffrage. There were strong opinions on both sides of the issue.
Performances will be at the CoBACH Center July 12, 13, 19, and 20, 2019 at 7:30 pm. There will be matinee performances on July 14 & 21, 2019 at 3:00 pm. Tickets will be $10 per person. As in the past, it will be festival seating with a venue which seats 40 people.
Tickets for this production will go on sale after June 10.
